Children need a lot of support and so do parents, especially if your family is new to a country where everything seems foreign and strange. Our programs, including Positive Parenting Training, Seminars and Workshops, help parents struggling with language and local culture or a lack of understanding of help that’s available for families within the local community. After assessing an individual or family needs, we work with our clients and with local and state service providers, helping to bridge the gap our clients often experience when starting.

Our training helps parents with authority to understand the unique challenges their children face growing up in Australia. Our experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, as well as agencies and services well versed in parenting, means we can help families find their ways in a confusing and intimidating landscape.

African-Australian youth face many challenges that can result in behaviour and anger issues, mental health challenges, and drug and alcohol abuse. AFPSS works alongside existing service providers through school outreach and case management programs to nurture and encourage good behaviour, mental health and general health support, and career guidance and coaching.
